A Texas Bowl Game (Part 1)

December 26th - 27th

This year our beloved Hokies were invited to play against UCLA in the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso on December 31.
We were so excited to head to El Paso and explore a new city. We also had a stow away in our luggage this year.
This year for Christmas my mom gave me Little Hokie Bird and since they couldn't make the trip, Little Hokie Bird came along in their place.

On Thursday morning, we all hopped on the team buses to head down to Greensboro, NC to catch our charter flight to El Paso.

When we got to El Paso, Little Hokie Bird got unpacked and made himself at home before we headed to our first event.
Our first night in El Paso, we headed to a Welcome Party at Sunland Park in New Mexico. Little Hokie Bird couldn't make this trip but we took a few pictures so we could show what he missed.

They had a "talent show" with players from both teams and it went down hill really fast.

There were a few players from UCLA that were pretty talented and we even had P. Diddy's son (who plays for UCLA) do a dance before the Sun Bowl officials shut it all down and sent everyone home.

It was definitely an interesting way to start the week.

Friday was Derley's birthday so it was a big day for everyone.

Little Hokie Bird started the morning getting a little work done.
And then headed to get a rental car.
We spent most of our day shopping at the Outlet Shoppes of El Paso.

We had a lot of fun and Derley had some success but Little Hokie Bird and I didn't walk away with much. to drown our sorrows, we got a churro.
That night we headed to an event at Fort Bliss where we met some of the people on the UCLA staff and a handful of soldiers.

That night after dinner, they had a hypnotist and he put on a show for us for a while. It was pretty entertaining.
Since it was Derley's birthday, we headed out to celebrate after dinner. After a complete bust at Dominic's Italian Restaurant, awkward. We ended up getting dessert at Chili's and made a new friend, the Chili's Manager!

After dessert, we dropped Little Hokie Bird in the room and Jed and I headed up to the Hospitality Suite to hang out with old and new friends and watch some football.
