Hokie Football & lots of Turkey Days

November

November went quickly with lots of small road trips and not a lot of pictures.

It started with a quick trip to Duke in a nail biter kind of game where I had to pace the top of the stadium for the final 5 minutes before the game went final, 24-21.
Duke's campus made me feel like I was somewhere in Europe. It was so pretty!

The next weekend Meredith & Antonio made the trip to Blacksburg. It was great to see them and catch up but we were bummed to watch Tech fumble again Georgia Tech.
Even Willie Mac stopped by the tailgate.

The big football trip for Derley & I was heading to Notre Dame for the weekend of November 19th. We ducked out of work a little early and headed towards South Bend. Along the way, we learned about United Dairy Farmers. Oddly enough, it was warm enough that we were excited to stop in for some ice cream.

Our final stop of the night was at Oakwood Resorts. Derley found this absolutely adorable place that we loved! We ate dinner in the restaurant and met up with my family to plan out game day.

The day we drove down it was warm enough to eat ice cream, Saturday morning we woke up to cold & snow. We caravaned the final way to South Bend with my mom, Tom & Caity. Once we found parking, we layered up and headed to explore campus.

We had a great time seeing all of the unique, must see places around campus.

We even accidentally ended up at the Notre Dame walk to the stadium. We got some weird looks from the players and coaches as they were trying to high five the Notre Dame fans and saw us.

As the game started, the sun was setting and it wasn't long before we were all freezing!

It was a super exciting game, a great experience in South Bend and a big win for the Hokies, 34-31.

The month ended with the traditional Video Thanksgiving, Traditional Thanksgiving and our biggest game of every season.

Video Thanksgiving has grown so large that we can no longer host at our house. Thankfully we were able to find a location and a menu that would work together. This year was Breakfast for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Traditional Thankgiving this year we had my mom, Tom, Ryan & Caity come into town. With the UVA game in Blacksburg on Saturday, they decided to make the trip a little early and it was great to have them.

An evening outing to White Barrel Winery

The UVA game was just as exciting as it is every year. It was a great Senior Day, we had my cousin and his family come for the game & the 13th straight victory over UVA 52-10.

With the win over UVA, we punched our ticket to the ACC Championship in Orlando the following weekend so there was lots to celebrate.

Football, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving and Football

November 22nd - 30th

This week has been a bit of a blur. We had lots going on, lots of events and lots of people. So here we go...

Derley, Danielle & I headed to Wake Forest on Friday night. We stayed with Danielle's uncle Alec and we had the best time! Her family is amazing! We also met Mead, the oldest, living Virginia Tech Cheerleader. He was so sweet and so funny. I am so glad we went down there a night early to hang out with the family.

Saturday was game day and we spent our time "tailgating" in the car.
Yup, A Land Before Time was our tailgating movie
It was a chilly day and we had fun going to the game but it was not our best showing. We were unable to score during regulation and ended up losing the game in double overtime 3-6.

We found Eric & Nancy at the game!

We weren't home long before it was time to head to the next Hokie sporting event, Wrestling. Natalyn was singing the National Anthem so we headed out there to support her. She did a great job. I got to see Jed in actual for a few minutes before I had to head home to get ready for Video Thanksgiving.
Since everyone was going to be eating traditional Thanksgiving food in a few days, we decided to have cajun food. There were about 20 of us and I think it was a success.

My family showed up a few days later to celebrate Thanksgiving with us and just us for the VT-UVA game on Friday. Thanksgiving was a great time. Jed didn't have to work so we spent the day hanging out, cooking and watching the parade.

Friday was an exciting day. We had a huge tailgate with tons of friends and all there family and Tom did a great job doing a ton off cooking for the tailgate. It was a huge success. It was just the start of a successful day and we all cheered our Hokies to a victory of UVA and become bowl eligible with our sixth win of the season. We were so excited!

We finished the weekend cheering on our Hokies at both a men's and a women's basketball game.

I am so thankful my family was able to make the trip to Blacksburg for Thanksgiving. We had a great time and I hope we can do it again in a few years.
