A Trip to NYC with Terri

January 20-22nd

Jed and I headed north to visit our friend, Terri. We decided Friday night that we would take the train into NYC and see what kind of trouble we could get into in the morning. Over night, we got a few inches of snow but we weren't letting that stop us.

The first order of business when we made it into the city was lunch. We had seen and heard about a Mac & Cheese place, S'mac, and we decided that now was a good time to try it.

This place was amazing. But here are some things that we learned.
1. There is a to-go store front and a dine-in store front. If you have the time, go to the dine-in side of the restaurant.
2. Since we didn't know about #1, we went to the wrong place and ordered off the to-go menu. The biggest difference in the 2 menus is a sampler plate. It allows you to try a bunch of different kinds of mac & cheese.

We tried the All-American, Buffalo Chicken & Parisienne mac & cheese and it was so good.

After lunch we decided to go to a museum. Terri had heard about a branch of the MOMA. It is called MOMA PS1.

The museum is in Queens and that was a lot of fun since I have never been to Queens before. We were so excited when we got to the restaurant and saw this...

This building was COVERED in graffiti. It was amazing! We loved it! We quick grabbed a few pictures and headed into the museum.

MOMA PS1 is in an old school building. It was such a neat place to turn into a museum. It is a very unique museum. It isn't your traditional art on the wall kind of place. There were a few rooms that were just different kinds of videos. My two favorite exhibits were the room that had 25 plus speakers and each speaker had a different person singing. Together they sounded amazing and then you could walk around the room and it would sound so different. We stayed and listened for a long time just walking around different areas of the room. The other amazing exhibit we could take pictures of. It was a room full of yarn and you were about to jump around and play in it. I felt like I was a little kid again as we tackled each other, tried doing flips and just being silly.

After the museum we went to a coffee shop to just hang out and talk. It was a cute little coffee but it didn't have wi-fi so that was a little bummer. But I would still recommend the coffee shop, Cafe Grumpy's.

We spent a little time walking around Chelsea Market and then headed to dinner at Lasagna's.
The restaurant was in the Chelsea neighborhood and it was SO MUCH fun! Anthony was a great waiter and we laughed, sang and chair danced til they closed. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. The food was amazing and the atmosphere made our day.

After dinner we headed back to catch our train and head back to Terri's for the night. It was an amazing day trip to NYC.

The next morning, we headed to a cute little town to have brunch at Fedora Cafe in Lawrenceville, PA and then headed to Princeton, NJ to spent a few hours walking around the town and University of Princeton campus. Terri showed us where they shot scenes from A Beautiful Mind.

Before we headed home, we grabbed the second best hot chocolate EVER from The Bent Spoon and Terri showed us a cupcake shop, House of Cupcakes, that had just won CUPCAKE WARS! How fun! So we had cupcakes for the road. Yum.

We had a great weekend spending time with Terri and exploring new and old cities.
