January 27-29th
I headed to Fredericksburg to hop on a train for a girl's weekend to celebrate Shauna's birthday. We started the festivities late on Friday with a fun dinner at TAO. It is a beautiful, lively asian fusion restaurant. The decor was amazing, the atmosphere was electric and the food was great. Marcia told them it was Shauna's birthday so they brought out this ridiculously large fortune cookie. It was really good. I think Shauna and I would have licked the plate if we weren't headed out the door.
On our way back to the hotel, we took a walk through Central Park and called it a night. The next morning we had breakfast at the top of our hotel over looking Central Park before we headed out to go shopping. We spent the morning finding fun clothes on Madison Ave at H&M and Forever 21. It was quite a successful trip. We made a stop in FAO Schwartz and the Apple store before heading to lunch at The Plaza Foodhall. It was such a neat place to eat and it made me feel so cool eating at "The Plaza".
After lunch we headed back to the hotel to get changed and ready for Broadway show. We went and saw Sister Act. It was really cute. The music and dance was very entertaining.
That night we went to dinner in Little Italy at a place called La Nonna. It was good (although the wine selection was a bust). Then we went to celebrate in Times Square at the W Hotel.
On our last day in the city we walked down to Soho to shop for a little while before we all headed back to Penn Station to head home. We found a cupcake shop called Baked By Melissa, so I HAD to bring some home with me. Before getting on the train, I had to get pizza and bagels. I thought for sure I would just come across some as I walked to Penn Station but no luck. Thankfully the nice people at a local hotel told me where to find both. They recommended Amadeus Pizza and a few blocks down from there was Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company. They had garlic bagels! So I got one for dinner on the train. I am sure everyone around me was thrilled I did that. But it was worth it!
New York is such a great city and I love how much you can do and how every time I go there is always something new to explore and try. Can't wait to see what we find next time.
