Going Bowling for Christmas in Charlotte

December 26-30

After Christmas, lots of people started to come into town for all the pre game festivities. We spent out last few days before the game exploring the city, celebrating birthday's by eating way too much and hanging out with friends and family as they got into town.

The day before the game, Derley & I had the opportunity to go on a Wive's Event before enjoying the Pep Rally happening a few blocks from our hotel.

Game day got here quickly and in typical fashion, I spent the morning of the game in the stadium putting out pom poms. It is always fun to get in, see the stadium and help be a part of the overall experience.

It was a great game day experience. We ran into so many friends while we were out and about.

It was surprisingly cold that evening and we really felt the cold the first half as our Hokies struggled again the Razorbacks but they came out a completely different team the second half with a come from behind victory over Arkansas 35-24.

This year, the families were able to join on the field for the celebration and it was such a surreal experience. This entire staff, coaches and players worked so hard this year and it was great to celebrate the close of the season with a victory.

After the game, we spent time with friends and family celebrating and reliving all the craziness of the game. It was a great week in Charlotte.

Going Bowling for Christmas in Charlotte

December 23-25th

This year we are headed to Charlotte for the Belk Bowl. We had the opportunity to head down a day before the team to help with all the equipment and it was so much fun! On December 23rd, we backed up our car with way too much stuff and headed south.

We bet the equipment truck by a few hours so we spent our time hanging out with new and old friends until it got here. That evening we unloaded SO.MUCH.STUFF. I have such a new and different respect for the the equipment crew does and as silly as it sounds, I am so thankful I got to be a part of the behind the scenes crew.

On Christmas Eve, Jed and I were able to meet up with Jed's family. For Christmas this year, we decided to take our nieces and nephews to Build A Bear as their gifts. It was great. The kids were so excited and Build A Bear is something I always enjoy but to watch it through the kids was just the best.

We made it back to the hotel in time to meet up with the equipment crew and walk over to the Carolina Panthers football game. We were graciously given box seats to watch the Panthers take on the Falcons.

Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the entire game but the experience and the seats were great. We were back to the hotel in time for when the team and the rest of the staff arrived. Jed headed to work and I headed to the room where I could continue to watch the Carolina game from our bedroom window!

That evening we had a Video Christmas Movie night in one of the practice rooms. We all ate junk food, drank hot chocolate, hung out in pajamas and watched Elf.

Christmas morning was work as usual for Jed and he headed to practice for a chunk of the day. It gave me the opportunity to head over to Joel & Leigh's and spend a few hours that morning with the family for Christmas.

Hokie Christmas' are never complete without the Video White Elephant game and this year was a huge success.

With almost everything closed on Christmas, the entire Virginia Tech crew headed up the street to Strike City Bowling Alley.

It was a great time bowling and spending time football family.
