#Icesterlin Day 5

May 27th

We were woken up crazy early to a notification that our flight had been delayed. It wasn't enough time for us to go on any random adventure so we were able to sleep a little later before heading out to the airport.

Our flight to Amsterdam was uneventful and we were there in no time. We found a cute AirB&B to stay in while we are in Amsterdam so when we landed, we called to let them know were we there. We were going to hope on the train and be at the house in 20 minutes. Well... Amsterdam has a very large airport and we may have gotten a little turned around. We found the train into the city which we successfully go on going the wrong way. Thankfully, with the help of a few locals, we were able to realize our mistake and get moving in the correct direction.

Amsterdam is a great walking city but much like Venice, not a very easy place to navigate at first or carry all your luggage around. There are plenty of steps and canals to walk over and tons of people, bikes and canals to navigate around. We were able to find our place fairly easily once we were able to get our barrings.

The owner's friend was there to meet us and he was very nice and gave us a great tour of house before handing over the keys and off he went. We spent a little time checking out the house, getting situated and hanging out on our surprise roof top terrace.

The rest of the day we spent wandering through the city. Amsterdam is an amazing city. There is something so warm and welcoming about it. We loved it.

After hours of wandering, it was time to find dinner. We narrowed it down to three different places and ended up at Max Restaurant. Max's was international fare and we had a great time trying different food for all kinds of different places.

We hit the ground walking and exploring again. We loved seeing all the communities coming together in the evenings having picnics on their porches, to people watch, and watching everyone flood into different bars with friends that would pour out into the streets. It is such a fun vibe.

We decided to walk down to the heart of the touristy area, Leidseplein, and it was crazy packed. We hung out for a little while before we headed back towards our place and found a cute place, Cafe Van Zuylen, to grab a beer before calling it a night.
