Thailand or Bust (Day 9)

May 30th (Saturday)
Temperature High: 100 degrees

Today was our last intercontinental travel day. We will hop on a plane to go to Phuket today. But before we left, Jed and I made a very quick run back to Waroros Market to grab a last few gifts and we couldn't help but try some of the market food. It looked and smelled so good!

We met Eric & Audrey for breakfast back at the hotel and then Audrey, Jed and I headed to get a foot massage before we had to get on our next plane.

Our flight to Phuket was very uneventful and we ended up at our next hotel in no time.

Phuket was definitely the more touristy city we have visited on this trip. It felt like Myrtle Beach at Spring Break only the clientele were about 20 years older. We explored the beach front for a while and watched as groups of people lit paper lanterns and released them into the night. It was really pretty but apparently it was frowned upon as we also watched people get busted for having them.

They were also very aggressive with selling their different products. As we were in search of dinner, we made a wrong turn and ended up walking down what we dubbed the "Alley of Terror". We believed the restaurant was at the end of the alleyway but in order to get to the restaurant, we had to walk down this alley that was full of tourist booths selling all kinds of things. On the way down, Eric was push, pulled and blocked by many of the individuals working the booths. When we realized we had walked down the wrong alley and it was a dead end and we had to walk back through, we decided to form a human shield around Eric so he wasn't grabbed or pulled on the trip back and it worked!!

Thankfully, the next alley we walked down was the correct alley to get to Ella's. This restaurant was really trendy and really good. It was a great experience to just sit, eat and hang out. It was great.
The next morning, we had a really early pickup time so after a little more exploring, we called it a night to get everything ready for tomorrow.
