May 27th
City Visiting: New York City
Today's High: 86 degrees
By the time we got to the airport in Delhi it was already the 27th. Getting though all of customs and security check points was a little intimidating and nerve wracking. There were lines for ladies and lines for gentlemen and it all seemed a bit like chaos. We did go through one security check together and the guy working did find us pretty funny with our attempt as learning the language. It has ALWAYS come in handy even when it is terrible. They love that we have tried.
The flight home was over 15 hours long but surprisingly it went pretty quick. We just slept, ate, watched movies, played games and slept some more. Before we knew it we were back in the states.
It was 7:30AM on May 27th when we landed in New York so we were excited to have the entire day to wonder, explore and take our time getting home. We had over 24 hours left of vacation and we planned to use it to the fullest. Of course, by the time we got through all check points in the airport, caught the shuttle to the car and got on the road it was almost 10 but we were determined to hit NYC before we headed home!
Our game plan was bagels & pizza so our first stop was Ess-A-Bagels. Unfortunately, it couldn't have been located in a worse location for us. There was no parking, tons of traffic and the one parking garage we tried was going to charge us a full day rate for just 15 minutes.
So we did the next best thing, I jumped out, Jed drove in circles and with bagels in hand, we headed to Union Square. We were able to find parking there and a pizza place that was opened before 11.
We walked around a little while before hopping back into the car for the next 8 or so hours til we could get home. And it wouldn't be a drive home from NYC with out our traditional stop for a Hershey's milkshake at Hershey World...
The trip home was pretty uneventful. We stopped at a bar-b-que place in Maryland called Hempen Hill BBQ. There smoked mac & cheese is definitely on my top 10 best mac & cheese. We will have to stop here again!
