Thailand or Bust (Day 6)

May 27th (Wednesday)
Temperature High: 97 degrees

Today we are headed to Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is the old capitol of Thailand and is tucked up in the northern part of the country surrounded by mountains and rain forests. It will be a drastic change from the big metropolitan city of Bangkok.

We beat the sun up this morning so we were ready for our transportation to the airport. The best part about of hour long flight was the safety video. It was so great, we had to take a video of it. We loved it!

We were at our next hotel, Suriwongse Hotel so early that they did not have our rooms ready for us so we dropped our bags and headed out to explore.

It was HOT but we saw some amazing temples and buildings.

We walked around until we got to the city wall and we stopped for a cold thai tea at Black Canyon Coffee. I am really loving thai tea.

After a short break, we kept walking until we made it to the city center, where Wat Phra Singh is located. This temple was very impressive, very large and we really enjoyed experiencing it all with monks of all ages everywhere.

We had the opportunity to walk into the temple as all of the monks were finishing their chatting.

After our time at the temple, it was time to go find lunch. We had found another place in our trusty Lonely Planet book that served "Northern Thai food". We were not sure what that meant but we were very interested in learning. So off we went to find Kow Soy Siri Soy.

This place was not easy to find. We think we found it but with very few signs and even few in English, we checked out a few on this one strip and picked the one we believe was what we were looking for.

Whether it was to correct place or not, it was fantastic! We were feeling great after lunch so we went out exploring and found Wat Chedi Luang & Wat Phan Tao.

Wat Chedi Luang was one of our favorites. Just a very impressive place even if you can't go into the ruins.

In some of the temples, they had places that ladies were not about to enter so the guys went in and took videos and pictures so we could see.

Wat Phan Tao also had a lot of beautiful areas that we were able to explore.

We finally made it back to our hotel to check in after a day of exploring and walking. Eric and Audrey decided to hang back but Jed & I were ready to get back out there so we quick dropped our stuff in our room and headed back out on a tuk tuk.

We found the best late afternoon/early evening event, FISH SPA!!!

This was the best $1.50 we have spent so far!!!
When you get done, your feet feel great, they are super soft and I had fish hickey's all over the back of my legs.
We walked back to the hotel to pick up get ready for dinner and fun lots of fun and random things along the way.

Eric decided to call it a night and just got room service for dinner. Audrey, Jed & I hopped in another tuk tuk and headed over the water to The Good View Restaurant for dinner.

It was a neat experience but it might be the bottom of the list for food we have eaten this far in the trip. We finished our evening walking around the Night Bazaar that were steps away from our hotel door.
