Senior Day

November 15th - 17th

This was a Hokie Sports weekend. On Thursday, Robyn and I spent the evening hangout and watching our Women's Basketball team win and on Friday, Danielle, Chris & I watched the guys team play.

Love the new basketball video boards

On Saturday, we celebrated Senior Day in Lane Stadium. We had our final home tailgate and were so excited to have a Micah's Backpack mini reunion.

Melissa, Pam, and Pat

Melissa & her parents (their first game!)

Much to everyone's surprise, we headed into Overtime with Maryland and they beat us on Senior Day. We were all pretty bummed.

Sunday was Jed's Mom's birthday so we both got to head down to Charlotte after church so we could all go out to dinner to celebrate.

Doesn't she look just like Boo from Monsters, Inc?!

A New Nephew

November 8th & 9th

I took a break from football this weekend to go see my nephew in Charlotte. They were having his baby dedication on Saturday night and I was so excited to be able to be a part of it.

Just look at those faces. We had a great time even if it was a really short visit.

This happened as I was driving home:

I was so excited that our boys pulled off a huge win. Jed and I spent Sunday sleeping since he didn't get home until 4:30am, and watching the rerun of the game on Sunday afternoon.

The Good, the Bad & the Funny

November 1st - 3rd
THE GOOD
This weekend started a little early. Our good friend, Mathis, came into town so he could defend his dissertation on October 31. After he became Dr. Mathis, we got dressed up for Halloween and headed out to celebrate!

We were so excited for him. Congratulations! Not only did he become a doctor that day, for the first time EVER, we won a free pizza at Tijuana Toss night at PK's!

Friday night when Jed headed to Boston, Mathis and I tried out our kitchen that we never use and made some awesome mac & cheese for this sweet recipe book Mathis & Nicki gave me for me birthday!

Danielle came over and the three of us just hung out, talked and watched football.

THE BAD

Saturday, we had Megan and Danielle join us at the house to watch the Hokies take on the BC Eagles. Unfortunately, it was not a good week for our Hokies again this Saturday and we fell to BC.

THE FUNNY

After we took Mathis back to the airport, Jed had to go work the Women's Soccer game. But before the game started we got to shoot some video to create a Hokie Bird video for a friend. AND I GOT TO BE THE HOKIE BIRD!! I didn't get to get in the entire suit, just the head and gloves but it was so fun! It stuck big time but I didn't care. How many people can say they get to put on the Hokie Bird head?!?

In the storage closet, where they keep the Hokie Bird, they also had all the Orange Camo helmets and jerseys. I didn't have enough time to get in the full gear but I did make Jed take a quick picture just for this.

Sorry Mathis, I couldn't "borrow one" for you.

It was a cold day but the ladies soccer team did a great job and beat Notre Dame in the second overtime 2-1. They are off to the semi finals of the ACC tournament this weekend. Congratulations & Good Luck to you guys.

A Roller Coaster Ride

October 25th - 27th

This weekend started off with a bang! We were invited to the Annual Kim-tober Fest. This year the theme was "1985". After we searched the internet and wandered through Goodwill for ideas, it hit us...

It was 1985 when Wrestlemania started and the very first "Main Event" was Mr. T and Hulk Hogan vs who knows. The important part was we found our costumes!

We had a fantastic time at the party and met new people that were as crazy as we were.
Clark Griswold & Rainbow Brite

Smurfette & Papa Smurf

Care Bears!

Zombies

Saturday we got everything ready for another fun (and cold) football game. This week Amy, Peter and Calvin were going to the game with me. It was Amy's first game since Michael Vick played here!

The tailgate was fantastic. (I think we are just starting to get the hang of this...) We had a pretty big crowded and lots of fun.

The game on the other hand we definitely an emotional roller coaster. It was the Orange Effect game and when I saw the team come out in ALL orange, I got worried. The last time we wore all orange (19 years ago) we got hammered by UVA and urban legend was Coach Beamer would never wear all orange again. I tried to but that thought out of my head but I couldn't help but wonder... In the end, we just couldn't get the job done.

To pour salt on the wound, ESPN just happened to catch a few of us on camera as time expired.
Ugh...

On Sunday, we headed out for a short day trip to Joe's Trees. It was the last day of there pumpkin patch and even though we had already had an evening with friends carving pumpkins...
Jed's (unfinished), mine, Danielle's, Megan's, Bullard's, Derley's

We thought we would go enjoy being outside and enjoying the beautiful changing leaves.

Joe's trees is a fun place. We were able to chuck little pumpkins, go on a hay ride, check out a pretty empty pumpkin patch and run through the corn maze.

It was a nice distraction and a fun way to end the weekend.
